Year 5 and year 6 camp

p1

We’re going to camp at school I’m very excited have you been to school camp at your own school before? Once we got to camp we had to go in our camp groups and I was with Miss Lavakula and our team name was Honest Squads and other team names were, All stars, Realdeal, Commitments, Matapono e,The True Crew. At camp we can do different activity. We did one activity for the whole time until the morning tea bell rang then we did another activity until the lunch bell rang and every time early in the morning just to do jump jam.

p2

My favorite activity was doing baking with mrs Jarman. The girls baked with Mrs Jarman and the boys baked with miss tea-to or with miss fire saf the girls are lucky to bake with mrs Jarman we baked biscuits we all had turns at pouring ingredients into the bowl then we poured all of the ingredients we put it in the microwave. Then when it came out of the microwave we used the spachala to take the biscuits off the tray then we got to taste one and it was delicious.

p3
My other thing that I enjoyed was going to GI pools every day but except for friday because on friday all the teams went to mangry pools. At GI pools we got to do anything there but except for pushing and attacking other kids. All I did there is swimming and swimming because I love swimming and playing with my friends and playing games.

p4
My team Honest squad was playing a game that was called kid zone or kill zone. All we had to do was to vs another and it was All stars so first we had to fill up water balloons there were 200 I think when we were done we only had 138 I think. Then we had four bricks to hope on and we weren't allowed to to touch the grass cause thats the river with screaming deals. Then we we got to chuck the water balloons at All stars and they got to chuck their water balloons at use then we went to the skies and that part was hard a little bit because we kept on falling. Then the blue tunnel the did the tennis ball game it was pretty easy then we moved on to the gumboot throw that was a bit easy then we did the sponges thats when you have to put it in water and fill up another bucket that is empty then we had to go back and do all of the thing again but except the gumboot throw and the  ball game then we had to raise a flag and make a chant up. All stars WON and Honest Squad.

As the Powhiri started there was a boat coming closer and then we heard a something it was coming from the boat  and it was the Hokule'a then we sang a song for them we sang E oho then they sang a song for us then but the song was in different language than they did a speech for all of us and and we were all hot then we stood up to sing another song and it was Na waka then we sang the song then they gave another speech then the 12 schools sang another song and it was He honore when the song finished the other schools kept on going and didn't stop singing but they did. Then when the Powhiri was finished gave them high fives it was fun because we ran well we high five them.

Mustelids 2

WALT: Use clues from the text to read and understand new words

Each trap has a small hole that is just big enough to let the mustelids slip through to get at the bait. It goes into the trap and wham. A big metal arm drops down and squashes the mustelids.

River talk

Walt: write a detailed introduction with hook and orientation.

Start your writing here:

My class room 8 & 7 & 6 went to Omaru Creek as well as tamaki college and another primary school too. And when we got there a man was coming on the foot path with chains on him and he was scary and he also had a black rubbish bag on him and toilet paper rolls on his hair. We went there because the creek was really dirty inside it. Then we meet someone that came out of the whole and it was a man not a lady and his name was Tamati. Then Tamati showed us around the Omuru Creek we even got to see the glass egle and glass people in the creek. There were some wind chimes too and we listened to it and we could hear the sound of the wind chimes. Then we went to watch a lady do a dance and it was awesome then we saw some art and cook island drums.

WALT: Use clues from the text to read and understand new words

1. Why are mustelids hard to catch?Because they have sharp teeth and sharp nails and because they are clever too and also fast.

2. What are mustelids?A mustelids eat native birds and chicks and they are also dangerous as well.

3. List three mustelids?weasel,Stoat,Ferret,

4. Why are they pests? Because they eat native birds & chicks & baby eggs.

Mustelids eat native birds & chicks & baby eggs. And the mustelids live in the park forest. And a hedgehog is a pests too and mustelids are danger because they are very fast, clever & sharp claws and they are small too so they are hard to catch.

I learnt that a mustelids are clever and fast and is dangerous as well.
